(RDS) - Good morning dear suffers. I am happy to write to you for two reasons, first because of our important victory against the Saint-Louis Rams, and because, on a personal level, my toe injury is getting better, chances are that I will be able to play in next Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

After analyzing results of the different tests, the team's doctors noticed that I had a bad swelling at my toe joint. It has been provoked by a strong compression
of the knuckle. There is only one remedy for this type of injury: rest. Thursday, I will try to train and if I can run easily, I should be able to face the Chiefs.

Even if the victory is bringing us closer to a spot in the playoffs and that every game is crucial until the end of the season, I will not prematurely return on the field. I prefer to be at my best when I return, instead of putting my career at risk. The Panthers perfectly understand the situation and they do not pressure me into a quick return, although, personally, I cannot wait to play again!

We completed the sweep against the Rams last Sunday. I later learned that it is the first time in more than two years that the Rams did not manage to score a touchdown in a game. Once again, our defence proved to be exceptional by playing a solid game.

The offence was a litte discrete, but clearly, we know that if we want to reach our objectives, we will have to score. Nevertherless, football remains a team game and the defence must have a good game when the offence has more difficulties, and vice versa. We will have to be more consistant until the end of the year.

Even if coach George Siefert seemed pessimistic after our victory, when re-thinking about the two games against the Atlanta Falcons and one against the Dallas Cowboys that we should have won, I can assure you that he was quite happy in the locker room after the game against Saint-Louis. If he had that kind of speach, it is only because he wished we had more victories in bank at the beginning of the season, so we would not be under such great pressure now. He is nevertheless very happy and proud of us and he still has hopes for the playoffs, and so do we.

The list of injured players continues to get longer on our team. It is difficult in this context to build up a good chemistry between the players, because of the movement within the offensive line, but the guys know what they must do on the field and intend to give their best each game. The goal is to come out stronger game after game.

After the Rams, we are flying to Kansas City this week to play the Chiefs. Contrary to our last trip to Minnesota, when I stayed home to watch the game on television, this time I will join my team mates, since the swelling in my toe is less important and there is a good chance that I will be playing.

The Chiefs lost their last five games, but it is out of the question not to take them seriously, even after beating the Super Bowl champions the previous week. The Chiefs have a good defence and are very physical, and we expect next week's game against them to be difficult. However, we are confident that we will win a third victory in a row!

See you next week!
